Felixity – ‘You & Me’
Starting off this week’s all-female Fave Five Fridays in celebration of International Women’s Day, we have an artist who couldn’t be more fresh on the scene. Felixity (pronounced ‘Felicity’) is off the mark with her debut single ‘You & Me’, released under Bristol label Komplex Recordings. The London-based singer has spent time recording the track in Bristol and Brighton, but also abroad in the German Capital. It’s the first single taken from her forthcoming album, ‘Love Sick’, which is set to release this spring. As a debut release, this is very polished and we think we will be seeing a lot more from her soon.
For fans of Kesha.
Eden Farrow – ‘Baggage’
Eden Farrow is an emerging pop artist based down in Brighton, and is currently studying at BIMM Brighton where I studied for my BA Hons, immediately giving me a reason to check out her work and do some research. It’s safe to say I was not disappointed, and her latest single ‘Baggage’ is one that should be in all of your new music playlists.
For fans Sigrid and MUNA.
Edie Bens – ‘The First One’
Edie Bens is another BIMM Brighton student. It was through some old friends still based down there that made me aware of her immense talent. Upon listening to ‘The First One’, I loved how it opens with a single acoustic guitar that sounds so organic, almost as if you are listening live in a small Brighton café. This really allows Edie’s voice to be heard and shows off her incredible vocals. From there, it builds and picks up energy, introducing you to the rest of the band. This is her only release to date, and we hope that she has more coming soon, as it’s too much talent to be wasted. Get busy Edie, we need more!
For fans of really, really good music. Katy J Pearson and Jade Bird.
The Big Moon – ‘Your Light’
I’m still quite new to ‘The Big Moon’ and recently had the privilege of seeing them perform in Cambridge, supporting Bombay Bicycle Club. The thing that immediately grabbed my attention, was the clear enjoyment on the faces of the girls. Each were smiling throughout their set, and as I looked around, it really felt as though their smiles transferred onto the faces of each of us watching on. While their playing time was limited, the tracks they did perform were super catchy, with ‘Your Light’ really standing out to me and being downloaded to my Spotify as soon as I got home. I loved what lead vocalist, Juliette Jackson, said about this number – she described it as a song “about freeing yourself from all of it, just for a moment. It’s a thanks to the one person or thing in your life that knows how to come in and open your curtains and light up the darkness and restore your strength so that when you clatter back down into the real world you have the strength to fight your battles, whatever they are”. The video is also really fun, check it out below.

Saint Sister – ‘Dynamite’
Rounding off this weeks Fave Five Fridays, we have a track that we came across from Spotify’s New Music Friday. This number really possesses soft and beautiful instrumentation, in the form of harp and piano, while lyrically we hear Saint Sister focusing on memories of a relationship that once was. The dual vocals from the band are simply lovely and very soothing to jam to. They are scheduled to go out on tour with Keane later this year, let’s hope that all goes ahead as planned. This track can be found on all streaming platforms now!
